MiVIP SURGERY CENTER FIRST TO PERFORM ROBOTIC ASSISTED PYELOPLASTY IN AN OUTPATIENT SURGERY CENTER IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA
Tower Urology’s Dr. Mathew Bui Uses da Vinci® Robotic System to Become First to Perform This Surgery for Urinary Tract Obstruction in an Outpatient Surgery Center
Beverly Hills, CA (February 5, 2013, 2012) – MiVip Surgery Center celebrated another milestone recently when it became the first facility in Southern California to perform robotic-assisted Pyeloplasty in an outpatient surgery center , a minimally invasive urinary tract procedure utilizing the revolutionary da Vinci® Surgical System.
The procedure was performed by Dr. Mathew Bui, a leading Urologist at Tower Urology in Beverly Hills, with assistance from Dr. Arnold Cinman. Both are surgeons at Cedars Sinai Hospital who specialize in minimally invasive Urological surgery.
This surgery, known as a laparoscopic dismembered pyeloplasty , removes the blockage in the urinary system. During surgery, your doctor will reattach the healthy part of the kidney to the healthy part of the ureter – the narrow tubes that carry urine from the kidneys to the bladder. Robotic surgeries involve several small incisions, just large enough for the instruments to pass through. This approach has advantages in less pain, less risk of infection and significantly less blood loss.
The da Vinci® Surgical System provides the surgeon a better view with 15x magnification and 3D visualization. There is unmatched surgical precision compared to standard laparoscopic or open surgery. This results in less tissue trauma, less post-operative pain, quicker recovery time and fewer complications.
